My Practice
I believe that people would like to be treated as I would, with respect, and recognition that while they may have problems, they are not bad people, and or should not be punished just because they have made some bad decisions, or gotten themselves stuck and don’t know how to get out of the situation they are in.
I have been in practice for over 35 years, have seen many fads come and go, but still believe that Psychotherapy works, and that Medication can sometimes help the Therapeutic Process. I use both Therapy and Medication when I think that it is called for, but I am not a “Med Check” Psychiatrist who will see you for 15 minutes, often without hearing what your issues are, then put you on medication, and refer you out to a person who is less educated, less experienced, and less qualified than I am.
I will on occasion hospitalize a patient, but only if it is clearly necessary, and only when other efforts to treat them have not worked. Because I have extensive experience in treating individuals who have had Substance Abuse Problems, I will evaluate and sometimes detoxify a person on an outpatient basis, but this is an issue that I will decide with them on an individual basis.
I am not on any insurance plans, and do not take insurance, although my office will give you forms that you can use to file with your insurance company.
If this sounds like what you are interested in, please give me and my office a call.
